Dorene Pool began learning to play the viola in the Denver Public Schools. After receiving bachelor degrees in music education and music performance from the University of Northern Colorado, she earned a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dorene has enjoyed a career teaching all levels of orchestra students in the public schools of Texas and Arizona. In 2012, she received the ASU Outstanding Mentor Teacher award for her work with student orchestra teachers.

She has performed with orchestras and small ensembles in Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, Montana, Arizona and Mexico. In addition to being part of MusicaNova, she is a member of the East Valley Pops and a founding member of the Kuchen Quartet.
