Rehearsal schedules, notes on concert dress, and other important info

At the SCPA – Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, 7380 E. 2nd St., Scottsdale, AZ 85251 – Stands provided

1)  Please arrive and be on stage ready to play at 10 AM – .  You will need to have:  proof of vaccination or proof of negative Covid test within the past 72 hours plus a mask while indoors and not playing.

2)  Please arrive in concert dress – photos will be taken throughout rehearsal and performance.

3)  No one but performers, stage crew or staff from SCPA & MNO may be back stage, in the green room area or on stage at any time.

4)  Concert dress:  All black – Ladies:  3/4 sleeve tops with either skirts, slacks or a black dress – with black shoes & hose/socks
Gentlemen:  Black long sleeve shirts, no ties, black slacks, shoes & socks – NO perfume – Everyone:  black masks with you.
 

5)  Everyone:  please leave all cases in green room or off stage along with purses – (or out of sight)

6)  Stands & chairs will be provided for everyone as needed.  If you think you need a stand light, please bring your own portable light.

Concert time is 2 PM – be ready to go on stage by 1:50 PM. 

Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Sagewood:   Sagewood Retirement Community – Auditorium, 4555 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix, AZ (behind & west of the MIM) (scroll to the bottom for site map and parking directions)

Be there no later than 6:30 PM. Bring stands & portable stand lights.  Concert begins at 7 PM.

This concert will be one hour in length or less.  We will perform everything from the regular concert, but we will only perform the final movement of the concerto.  

At the end of the concert:  please pick up your check in the Green room & turn in your hard copies of the music.  Do not leave without your check.

“Mozart” Symphony no. 37 (actually mostly by Michael Haydn)
Mendelssohn: Piano Concerto in G minor featuring pianist, Sharon Hui.
Reger: Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Mozart
 
The scoring required for the Reger is the largest at 39 players.

Tuesday, October 26, 2021 – 7 PM CONCERT – Sagewood Retirement Auditorium

Rehearsal/Performance locations:

Tempe High School – 1730 S. Mill Avenue, Tempe AZ 85281- stands provided

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts- 7380 E. 2nd St., Scottsdale, AZ 85251- stands provided

Sagewood:  Retirement Community – 4555 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix, AZ  behind/(west of MIM)- you will need to bring your own stands

Scottsdazzle, Nov. 27

7 PM Concert – Location:  Marshall Way Bridge on the stage by the canal.
 
Please bring a stand, portable light, pencil plus wind clips for rehearsal and the concert!

Schedule:
Rehearsal is from 10 – 12:45 PM Nov. 27 at Scottsdale Presbyterian Church.  3421 N. Hayden Road at Osborn.
 
Break
5 PM – 6 PM (at the latest)  On stage for sound/lighting check and last minute directions. .
 
6:45 PM – on Stage and ready for concert
7 PM – Concert begins – straight through and over by 9 PM.  
At the end of the concert, return only the hard copies of the music that are not yours & pick up your check.  Do not leave without your check.  
 
Dress:  all black.  Wear a Santa hat or a red scarf for a color pop.  The stage isn’t going up until Saturday morning.  The lights on the steel beams around the stage will help with warmth, but the top is open as are the sides and front of the stage.  You might want to dress in layers just to be sure you’re warm enough, as well as have gloves with the fingers cut out.
 
Music:  Music files will be accessible on this page. Hard copies of the music will be available at the rehearsal on Saturday morning. 
 
Parking:  You can park in the Nordstrom parking garage north of the concert location or any of the parking lots in the area near the Marshall Way bridge.  Percussion and large instruments should drop off instruments in the round about circle on the north side of the bridge by Olive and Ivy.
 

Sagewood directions

  • Head East on Mayo Blvd off of Tatum (Highlighted in Red)
  • Screen at security gate and enter property
  • Once past security, take an immediate left, then immediate right into Acacia Health Center parking lot and park towards the back of the lot (highlighted in Yellow)
  • Musicians can then walk 50 steps to the Oasis patio and enter through the patio doors to the performance space (Black Circle)
  • We have a backstage area where artists can house their cases and gear.
