
Dana Zhou, violin
Violinist and violist Dana Zhou earned her master’s degree in string pedagogy at Arizona State University. She also holds a master’s in violin performance from California State University, Fullerton, and a bachelor’s degree in music from CSU Los Angeles.
She has performed globally and worked with Joana Genova, Heather Braun, Naiyuan Hu, Bin Huang, Igor Gruppman, Alexandre Brussilovsky, Shumel Ashkenasi, Rostad Masumi, Ariel Rudiakov, Amadi Azikiwe, Thomas Landschoot, Jon Klibonoff, Drew Peterson and the Tokyo, Ying, and St. Lawrence Quartets.
A multi-instrumentalist, Dana serves as a violinist with MusicaNova, the West Valley Symphony, and as the violist of the Joy Music String Quartet, which debuted in 2019 at Red Rock Winter Music.
Her scores for Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with Theater Works won the ariZoni Theater Award of Excellence in original music composition. She was featured in Ross Casey’s Aquatic Ambiance on Apple Music, and as a violinist in the movies Amos, Face Value, Sweetheart, Damon, and Jolly B. Fierce.
As a music educator, Dana is a faculty member in Harmony Project Phoenix and maintains a private studio of 20 students.
