Phoenix’s news media is getting excited about the MusicaNova concert this Friday at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
The Arizona Republic featured composition fellow Quinn Mason over the weekend, noting that “at 25, he has conducted orchestras across the nation and is one of the most sought-after young classical composers.” Reporter Elizabeth Montgomery talked with Quinn about Svítání, the new piece he composed just for MusicaNova.
“It’s about rebirth and renewal, especially in the time that we’re living in where it seems like we’re on the cusp of everything getting better. I wrote a piece about that experience,” Mason said. “It took me a while to write, but it’s a meaningful piece to me. And I really hope that it’ll be a meaningful piece to the Phoenix audience.”
Quinn was also on KAET’s Horizon with Ted Simons. The show hasn’t yet been posted online. Look for the interview here in the next few days.
