The MusicaNova Wind Quintet

April 22 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

At the Musical Instrument Museum Theater.
Limited seating. Face masks required.
Tickets go on sale to the public March 25
The program and players:

The MusicaNova Wind Quintet presents a program that celebrates contemporary Western Hemisphere composers, some of whom may not have been given a voice in traditional European classical music. They include three women (including an African-American named the 2020 Classical Woman of the Year), a Sonoran-born man who incorporates the sounds of Mexico into his music, and America’s best-known composer for woodwinds. The music evokes thoughts of faraway places. Theresa Martin’s “Passage” is an Arizona premiere, supporting the MusicaNova mission of presenting “the best music you’ve haven’t heard yet.”

Flute: Jeanie Pierce

Oboe: Diego Espinoza
Clarinet: Kristin Fray

Bassoon: Kristilyn Woods
French Horn: Lauralyn Padglick

Program (not in order):

Arturo Marquez (1957- ), Danza de Mediodia

David Manslaka (1943-2017), Quintet for Winds No. 4

Theresa Murphy (1979- ), Passage

Valerie Coleman (1970- ), Tzigane
