MusicaNova Trombone Trio

MusicaNova brings together three accomplished brass players to perform music written and adapted for trombone.
Seth Bärtschi is a freelance trombonist in the Phoenix area and serves on the board of the Phoenix Brass Collective, with which he plays bass trombone. In addition to MusicaNova Orchestra, he often performs with the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera, and Millennial Choirs Orchestra, to name a few. Bärtschi has also performed with Air Force Band of the Rockies, Phoenix Theatre, Arizona Broadway Theatre, Arizona Theatre Company, Carlos Rivas Salsa Band, and many more. Bärtschi has been recorded on five commercially released albums, including solo features.
Jason Malloy is an accomplished international performer and music educator. Popular with audiences for his virtuoso skills on the trombone and his on-stage humor. Malloy has performed as solo trombonist with the Salt River Brass for 22 years. Additionally, Malloy has performed in Europe, toured nationally with the River City Brass based in Pittsburgh, and been a guest artist with the Boston Brass, Monterrey (Mexico) Symphony Orchestra, and the Phoenix Symphony. Active in the Valley music scene, Malloy has performed with the Arizona Opera, the Phoenix Metropolitan Opera, and the Phoenix Brass Collective, where he is currently a member.
Steven Brazier graduated from Arizona State University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in music education and Sam Houston State University in 2016 with a master’s degree in band conducting. He has taught all levels of education, from kindergarten through high school, and currently teaches band and general music at Legacy Traditional School North Chandler. Brazier has performed with many community bands and theatre groups. Brazier currently plays trombone in the local pop/cover band Cliffside Push and European-style brass band Salt River Brass.
