MusicaNova's
Mission and Vision

We believe in the value of performing great new and neglected musical works of exceptional quality to enhance and enrich the Scottsdale musical experience. Since its founding in 2003, the mission of the MusicaNova Orchestra has been consistent ? to perform great music that is new, suppressed or unfairly neglected. From the start, we understood that the orchestra must be a professional group in order to offer the music a chance to shine. Also, we knew that the area where we could best serve neglected music would be music for full Symphony Orchestra.

We look to perform older music that has slipped through the cracks of history, either through inadvertent or deliberate suppression. For newer music, we look to composers who have not (or not yet) found their way to the corridors of power in the classical music business, but who write exceptional music. "Neglected" can also have a regional focus; certain composers and certain works have been played little in Arizona, despite being among the cast of "famous composers". Astonishingly, there have been no known performances in Arizona of either the Bruckner Symphony No. 6 or the Shostakovich Second Violin Concerto, the two best known works we are performing this season.

We are proud to enter our eighth season, on a mission that is almost unique, and has brought recognition not only to MusicaNova, but to the community of Scottsdale and the surrounding Valley.
